Harvard – Every first weekend in June, Harvard has a celebration dedicated to one of our favorite beverages, milk. As the self proclaimed Milk Capital of the World, Harvard first started the celebration to commemorate their role in producing milk during World War II with its annual Milks Days celebration. The celebration includes a parade, festival and even a fireworks show, all dedicated to celebrating milk!
Palatine – If you like food and drink, Palatine is the place for you. Palatine is home to a number of festivals and celebrations, but the most popular one is probably Street Fest. Every year in late August, food vendors line up down the streets to share some of the best food Chicago has to offer. In September, you can celebrate German culture by attending Palatine’s Oktoberfest festival.
McHenry – The people of McHenry believe it is important to celebrate life. That’s why for 10 days every July they hold their annual Fiesta Days Celebration. Over the ten day celebration, food vendors, bands, festivals, and a parade will take place among many other events celebrating the hard working people of McHenry, Illinois.
Dundee – In Dundee, there are celebrations for every season. In spring, celebrate Irish heritage with their St. Patrick’s Day celebration. They even have a 5K race where the participants wear kilts! Heritage Days marks the end of summer and beginning of fall. This festival is a three-day celebration that includes fireworks, a festival, and an antique show. During the first weekend of December, downtown Dundee is transformed into winter wonderland with it’s Dickens in Dundee celebration. This Victorian Christmas celebration features a tree lighting ceremony, gingerbread house making, living Christmas portrayals, and, of course, a visit from Santa.
Woodstock – Woodstock is most known for being the filming location of the movie Groundhog Day. Movie producers chose Woodstock because of its charming atmosphere and classically American backdrop. The people of Woodstock celebrate Groundhog Day with weather predictions from their friendly groundhog named Woodstock Willie.
Barrington – Barrington is home to Illinois’s largest historic district. You’ll feel like you took a trip to the past as you walk through the town while admiring their beautiful 19th century Victorian Homes.
Cary – Kickoff your summer in Cary with its Summer Celebration. During the weekend before the 4th of July, you can start your summer off with music, fellowship and fireworks in Cary’s beautiful Lions Park.
Crystal Lake – If you love the outdoors, Crystal Lake is the town for you. With its multiple lakes, trail system and beautiful Three Oaks Recreation Center, you and your whole family can spend your whole day outside enjoying the wonderful scenery.
Lake in the Hills – Every Labor Day, the town or Lake in the Hills celebrates the end of summer with its Summer Sunset Festival. This three day event features a carnival, classic car show, bands and fireworks.
Algonquin – Algonquin is known for being home of Chicagoland’s number one chimney and home building service provider, Leonard & Sons. We love our hometown for its beautiful downtown district, farmers’ market and its Founders’ Day Celebrations which includes a carnival, parade, food festival, bar crawl and fireworks during the last weekend in July.
