Why We Love McHenry
The people of McHenry believe is important to celebrate life. For 10 days every July, they hold an annual Fiesta Days Celebration. This ten-day celebration brings food vendors, bands, festivals, and even a parade! For families, Fiesta Days offers a carnival with games, rides, and sweet treats. They also have a Beach Bash Day, where kids can play in the water, get their face painted and free ice cream! Fiesta Days offers something for grown-ups as well with cask and barrel night, where adults can sample beers, bourbon, and bacon. Fiesta Days offers tons of fun for people and families of all ages.
McHenry also offers some great areas for outdoor recreation. Moraine Hills State Park is a 2,200-acre park, which has almost two square miles of wetlands and lakes. This is a great place for boating, kayaking, and fishing. Moraine Hills State Park is also home to miles and miles of trails that traverse through a number of different land and terrains. One of these trains, the Prairie Trail, is a sub-section of the larger Grand Illinois Trail. If you enjoy the outdoors, then McHenry is a great place for you.
If you enjoy good food, McHenry is the place for you. For breakfast, The Brunch Cafe and the Windhill Pancake Parlor offer some of the best morning eats. The Windhill Pancake Parlor will even serve breakfast via a model train, which runs inside the restaurant. If you’re in the mood for lunch or dinner, McHenry has some great options too. For a great slice of real Chicago-style pizza, we enjoy Buddyz Pizzeria. If you want authentic Japanese Sushi, you can pick up a couple of sushi rolls at Sakura Japanese Restaurant. If you looking for just a good ole burger and fries, you can’t get much better than The Village Squire. No matter what your taste is, McHenry has something for you!
